Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. The nurses work night and day in peoples homes and the Marie Curie hospices offer specialist care. They also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers. Marie Curie nurses will be working all over Christmas and New Year so I set a target to cover every day over that period. It costs £180 a night to support someone who chooses to stay at home with family and friends around them. This has never been more important than now with Covid 19 preventing loved ones from visiting Hospitals and Care homes. The local fundraisers have been unable to arrange street and store collections so I hope we can still contribute in this way. My best birthday present would be to achieve or exceed the target. I cant hold a 70th party with friends and family and I don't need presents. So this will make my celebration more memorable.
