MDS UK Patient Support Group is a charity born in 2008 to raise awareness of MDS (a rare BLOOD CANCER), offer support and information to patients and families, campaign to improve the quality of life and make treatments available to those affected by Myelodysplastic Syndromes.

Story

This challenge involves cycling 500 miles over the month of May by cycling 15 – 20 miles each day within a one hour period to achieve the total. (The challenge is designed to meet current Government regulations during lockdown.) We want to raise money for two fantastic charities - MDS UK and The Sickle Cell Society. MDS UK support people affected by a very rare blood disorder and blood cancer in which the bone marrow fails to produce healthy blood cells which can result in leukaemia in a third of cases. https://mdspatientsupport.org.uk/ Likewise The Sickle Cell Society support people affected by another very rare blood condition that causes sickling of red blood cells. This can prevent normal blood flow resulting in episodes of extreme pain and can result in organ damage and organ failure. https://www.sicklecellsociety.org/ These charities are very small and are facing enormous demand for support at present as individuals with both conditions are highly vulnerable to Covid-19. Please Join in and participate in the challenge or sponsor us.
