Story
Congratulations and a very big thank you to all of
you who risked the weather and put on your boots to join us on what was a very
successful day. We achieved our goal of a 1000mile walk by actually walking
1133miles collectively. I know everybody will be looking forward to next year
now the aches and pains have gone away but please post your sponsor money
first!! It is important to collect your sponsorship money and post it on this
site ASAP so that we can let BIRD start putting it to a good use.
Once again thank you to all of you who made the day a great success Ian Davies

Sunday 3rd May 2009 will see this year’s sponsored walk moving to a new venue and a new format, our goal this year is to achieve a 1000 mile walk; if we have 50 people that’s 20 miles each or 100 people that’s 10 miles each. The main walk will be from LLandegla along the Offas Dyke path taking in Dinas Bran castle with spectacular views before dropping down into Llangollen. There will also be a longer walk that will make up any shortfall in the total mileage; the starting point for this walk depends on the number of walkers on the main walk so let’s hope we can all start at the same place! Once in Llangollen we will be meeting in the Bridge End Hotel where we will have the use of a private function room with its own bar on the first floor with great views over the river and town. When everybody has arrived or before it goes dark!! we will be serving a buffet, running a raffle with great prizes and most importantly having a relax, a chat and a laugh. Why not enjoy a stroll around Llangollen leaving your bags and coats in the room before its time to catch the coach back to the starting point or your pick up point. This year’s nominated charity is an Eccleston, Chester based organisation, the term "brain injury" covers a huge variety of conditions, at BIRD, they make no distinction between types of brain injury and aim to treat people of all ages and all levels of severity. They use a unique treatment known as 'Developmental Reflexive Rehabilitation' that complements the more traditional methods such as medicine and adapted education, their ultimate aim is to radically improve the lives of their patients and their carers. Our target of a £2000 donation will pay the cost of treatment for 3 children for the next twelve months and as this is a local charity that means we can be sure it is used to pay for the treatment of three local children. Read about James, just one of the many James' story Visit BIRD here: http://www.b-i-r-d.org.uk/about/index.htm It would be great to see you there so if you want to join us this year, in order to confirm numbers we will be asking for a refundable deposit of £5 per entrant that can be returned on the day or added to your sponsorship total. So go on join in and sponsor this event or a raffle prize now! All are welcome, suppliers, Family and friends. Please register by making a £5 per entrant donation on this site today!
