What do you do when you've not been to Scotland before...? You climb their highest mountain of course!
This is for all those we know living with Alzheimer's (and those we don't yet know who will be diagnosed in the future).
After an 18 months like no other, charities have suffered too, through even less funding than normal years from donations.
Let's help get investment back into Alzheimer's research.
Here's the facts
- Dementia is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the UK.
- There are currently 850,000 people with dementia in the UK. This is projected to rise to 1.6 million by 2040. 209,600 will develop demntia this year, that's one every three minutes.
- Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia
- Investment in dementia research remains low compared to other health conditions
- Dementia is more than just memory loss
- Everyone’s experience of dementia symptoms is different
- Diagnosing dementia, and which type of dementia someone has, is important. It ensures people can get the right support and treatments, plan for the future, and develop strategies to live well with dementia.
