Story
In 2008 the doctor looked up from his notes and told me, "the mamogram is clear, but" he shuffled his papers "the MRI shows a lump". I was lucky. I was unlucky. Unlucky as breast cancer had taken my mother and my aunt when they were in their 50's. Lucky, because as soon as I turned 40 I was placed on a high survelliance list. Thanks to that surveillance my lump was found before it turned nasty. It was benign. Yes I needed treatment, but the last time I checked I'm still here. Unlucky because I suffered complications during the treatment and ended up having 11 operations in a little over two and a half years, plus 2 more general anesthetcs for investigations (and another 2 later on for other stuff). .
When I had questions that weren't doctor type questions, it's Breast Cancer Care I turned to. That's why I'm raising money for them. Because when I needed help, they were there for me. Breast Cancer Care helps more than cancer patients, it helps everyone with cancer questions, be they people with cancer, or their families, or people with questions about the possibly of inheriting cancer.
