Story
Shwmae! I am so glad you are here.
A Little About Me?
My name is Jane Chukwu. I am a former sabbatical officer and student of Cardiff University, currently living in the UK.
On the 3rd of April 2022, I participated in a marathon to raise funds for the charity British Heart Foundation (BHF) in Manchester City to help raise funds and make lives better for people living with Cardiovascular Diseases.
The BHF is a cardiovascular research charity in the United Kingdom. They fund medical research related to heart and circulatory diseases, which makes possible inventions like stem-cell coated plasters, 3D printed hearts, etc.
Why Are We Fundraising?
Although great strides have been made in the past to address the many issues around Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), they are still the leading cause of death globally, taking an estimated 17.9 million lives each year. CVDs are a group of heart and blood vessel disorders that include coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, rheumatic heart disease, and others. Heart attacks and strokes account for more than 4 out of every 5 CVD deaths; one-third of these deaths occur in people under 70 (WHO, 2022).
It's exciting for me, to say the least - I get to challenge myself with a new experience in April and do more good work for the community. I'd be documenting this journey on my social platforms, and you can make all donations in support of this cause through the Just Giving platform - This is because donations made here goes directly to the British Heart Foundation.
How Can You Help?
You can support this cause for as little as £5. You can also share and encourage your friends and family to make donations if you can. Each contribution you make is a step to turning science fiction into reality for people living with Cardiovascular Diseases and preventing more deaths.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Love,
Jane
