This September  3 generations of our family- Reli, Jane, Pete, Chris, Matt and Dan will all be running the Great North Run half marathon. Now for some, this may come easy but believe me I have never run before and half a marathon is a very long way!  

Much as we love a challenge anyway, we are specifically running to raise money for two charities. 

St Thomas's Hospital respiratory intensive care team charity. 

Some of you will know that Dan, the youngest of our family runners was rushed to St. Thomas' s specialist respiratory intensive care unit for life saving care last year as a result of H1N1 swine flu. Just a couple of years previously a major epidemic of swine flu cut short the lives of many people, a majority of them young, around the world including the UK. The knowledge and skills and care this team have developed is truly life saving. 

We are also raising funds for the Susan Channon breast cancer Trust, who kindly offered us the places to be able to take up this Great North Run family challenge together this September, and support research and development for breast cancer care.
