London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
This one is for my mum ❤️
I was lucky enough to secure a ballot place in the London Marathon 2020, due to Covid and other circumstances, my entry was rolled over to 2022 and now, finally I am confirmed for April 2023.
I’d like to use the opportunity to raise some funds for a cause that until March 2019, I’d no knowledge of … Sepsis.
We’ve all heard of it, not many of us are sure what it is (a lie threatening reaction to an infection). I was not aware of the symptoms or the damage it can do if not caught very quickly until my fit, healthy, beautiful mum contracted it suddenly in causing her to be hospitalised for a month whilst battling failing organs and pneumonia. Thankfully sepsis was diagnosed in time for my mum to receive life saving treatment but it was touch and go for a while as to whether she’d pull through - especially after the sepsis progressed to septic shock. It took months after coming out of hospital for mum to recover. She is one of the lucky ones - sepsis can kill within 12 hours.
The Sepsis Trust provided advice and offered support both to my mum and our family and I would like to help them continue to support sufferers and their families and friends and also raise awareness of sepsis.
If you would like to donate to my cause I’d be very grateful. It means a lot to me and is my motivation to train for and run the marathon.
Thank you xx
