Jane's Iceman Polar Arctic Challenge

Iceman Polar Artic Challenge · 17 April 2018
I am taking on the Iceman Polar challenge raising money for the Born Sleeping Appeal.
The Born Sleeping Appeal aims to raise £75,000 to complete June 2018
The appeal aims to create a dedicated maternity bereavement suite
designed for mothers experiencing pregnancy loss.
The vision consists of three rooms to provide a delivery room, an en-suite family room to allow partners to stay overnight and other family members to visit in a private setting and a room for counselling.
Upon completion the new suite will enable families who lose a baby with a private sanctuary to stay in after the birth for as long as they wish to.
The number of still born babies nationally last year was 3112.
The availability of a dedicated suite will provide families with a comfortable environment where they can receive the care and support they need at a time of great difficulty. It will allow families to come to terms with their loss at their own pace without the acute pressures of a delivery.
For this challenge myself, Cristina Ramos and Jayne Blacklay will be trekking through the Arctic in a ski race, whilst carrying all of our tents and supplies.
The Iceman route is approximately 100km in total and covers a mixture of frozen fjords, remote valleys and sweeping glaciers in the Arctic.
Day 1: Constable Point to Zemiteselv, via Postkassen Pass.
Day 2: Ugle Elv to Kalkdal valley entrance, via Fame Islands
Day 3: Kalkdal valley entrance to foot of Dragon Glacier, via Kalkdal valley
Day 4: Dragon Glacier to head of Sødal valley, via Bjerring Pedersens Glacier
Any support that you can offer really will make a difference and spur us on in the -30 degree cold!
Thank you
Jane
