The JohnPaul Project
Campaign by Caring Connections (RCN 1013152)
The John Paul Project is a charitable service which aims to improve the emotional wellbeing of veterans and their families across Merseyside through targeted psychological therapies and support programmes.

Story

The JohnPaul Project is a charity close to AK’s heart as he is himself a veteran of operational tours in Afganistan. He was in an IED blast back in 2012 and also lives with PTSD on a daily basis. AK has lost close friends who have taken their own lives while suffering from PTSD and trying to adjust to civilian life (including JohnPaul Finnigan). He is determined to do something to contribute to helping his fellow veterans and when he asked me if I would join him swimming Windemere on Sunday 9th June I couldn't say no!

About The JohnPaul Project;

The service has been set up in memory of JohnPaul Finnigan who sadly lost his life through suicide in 2018. JohnPaul from Huyton had completed a number of tours overseas in war ravaged areas serving proudly with the 2nd Battalion the Rifles. Upon leaving the Army JohnPaul suffered greatly with mental health and trauma issues and even lost close friends through their own PTSD struggles. JohnPaul's story highlighted the further need for support of our returning veterans and challenges that are faced after being involved in such distressing situations.
