London Marathon 2018 · 22 April 2018 ·

Our ethos is “There is life after a diagnosis of dementia”. We aim to support families and find ways of encouraging those with dementia, and those caring for them, to recognise and use the skills that remain for as long as possible, not highlight and dwell upon those that are lost.

Story

This is the fourth time I've entered the London Marathon and have finally got on! As soon as I found out I had a place I knew I wanted to raise money for a Hull based charity, as this is my home city.

After much consideration, I have decided on fundraising for Butterflies Memory Loss Support Group as my daughter, Eleanor, has volunteered at the group for two years during her college holidays and, therefore, I have witnessed first-hand the amazing support they provide for people suffering with dementia and their families. They provide such a variety of support and help through meals, days out,  games and workshops, to name a few, which is all completely reliant on donations. I'd love to raise as much as I possibly can for this fantastic group and would be so grateful of any donations. Thank you all so much!!

Butterflies have also written about their group below.

Our meetings are seen as a lifeline to the people who join us, often they have become isolated because of their diagnosis. They are able to make new friends and share experiences with others facing the same challenges . We rely entirely on our fundraising to provide our services. Without your help, we will be unable to provide the vital services to those who come to us in need. Help us change the lives of whole families affected by dementia. Thank you for your support.
