Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

https://www.clwydspecialridingcentre.co.uk/ is a truly amazing place.

This year it is celebrating it's 40th anniversary. In celebration of that I would like to raise money for the Centre and I need your help with that, please.

On Saturday 5th November 2022, I am going to set off early and self-propel my way around the main road on the Great Orme in Llandudno, North Wales on Max my Mountain Trike. This will be no easy feat I can assure you. The road, from gatehouse to gatehouse, is 7km long and it is undulating with long very steep climbs. And it may well be hideous weather due to the time of year! Haha!

Clwyd Special Riding Centre (CSRC) is a registered charity located in Llanfynydd, near Wrexham, North Wales. The Centre provides state-of-the-art facilities that support Riding for the Disabled and equine based activities, benefitting people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities and additional needs.

When I lost the use of my legs 10 years ago, due to spinal cord surgery, I turned to Clwyd Special Riding Centre to help get movement back in my legs and to also help me mentally. I have used several of the therapies they offer. The Centre changed my life.

To me the Centre is 3 things:

1) Sanctuary - it is a safe place, a stunningly beautiful place, you go there and don't get stared at or ignored, you have fun, it smells and sounds wonderful with all the horses around you. It gives you peace from whatever craziness your disability throws your way.

2) Family - literally everyone there and every horse, works so, so, so very hard to make you feel part of something special. They want you to succeed. They support you every step of the way. They make you laugh. They really are fabulous. You make friends. You grow.

3) Life Changing - I now have movement in my legs. It is enough movement to make my life easier so I can transfer to my car, the sofa, any chair, use a walker upstairs in my house and even use my very simple exercise bike. I now volunteer in the office once a week and this has also helped me mentally. The place helps keep you sane.

I know and understand life is very hard and expensive at the moment so I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for any money you can spare.
