Great West Run 2013 · 13 October 2013 ·
On October the 13 I will be running a half marathon in Exeter – at least that’s the plan! A gentle jog may be more realistic but to finish it is the challenge for me. I am running this for the wonderful, inspirational woman that is Vicky Jolly who lost her battle to cancer in April 2012. One year on, knowing what Vicky had achieved with her completion of the London marathon, I joined the beginners running group in Harlow with the aim of running a 10k Race for Life and now I am a fully paid up member of Harlow RC with a card, PB’s and athlete status – get me!!
As you are all aware, in reality, I am not a runner - my knees and toenails (or lack of them) are testament to that and I find it really hard – but it's nowhere near as hard as the fight people have on their hands living and dealing with cancer and the impact it has on the people around them. As corny as this may sound Vicky runs with me (and El is handing out the jelly beans) - all I need from you is some support to achieve this and raise some money for a truly worthy cause.
After the run I will be drinking champagne to celebrate - it’s what Vicky would have wanted J
