COSMIC supports children’s and neonatal intensive care units at St Mary’s and Queen Charlotte’s Hospitals London, helping frontline intensive care staff deliver vital critical care, and supporting families with children on the units. We also support research initiatives to improve intensive care.

Story

Our story hasn’t changed, our circumstances have! Our Ben Nevis trip is BACK ON!! Christopher & I are heading up north next week!!!. & Cosmic still need our support. Read below as to why we are doing this and if you can please press the button to sponsor us now 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Our beautiful niece Pearl has had recurrent episodes of severe bronchiolitis for several months with many admissions to hospital. In November 2019, she had her most severe episode where her respiratory system failed, lungs collapsed and resulted in her having to be intubated for 2 days. She was taken by ambulance to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PCIU) at St Mary's Hospital, London. Here, they provided life saving treatment and got Pearl back to full health. Not only did they look after Pearl but they also provided hotel accommodation for Laura & Lewis, which was so important being far from home & being unable to stay in the PCIU itself. They also provided much needed support to both of them at such a difficult time.

COSMIC was founded in 1994 to raise money for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, which treats around 400 desperately sick children every year.

They also fund internationally significant research into the causes, effects and treatment of life-threatening childhood diseases.

Here are just a few of the things that they have been able to achieve:

  • COSMIC has purchased over £1,000,000 of life saving equipment.
  • We have spent over £500,00 on groundbreaking research into paediatric health.
  • COSMIC has been helping parents for a number of years not least by funding accommodation in local hotels – helping families to stay close at hand during a particularly traumatic time.
Their current appeal is 'Home from Home' appeal, to create a dedicated on site parent accommodation unit - a Home from Home for parents with critically ill children.

Help us help them
