Story
On the morning of Sunday 30th October, we had to say goodbye to our beautiful mum, Jane, who passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, just a few months before her 60th birthday.
Many will be aware of mum’s stoic battle with Stage 4 cancer over the last 9 years. It is a battle she faced with incredible fortitude and determination, helped by the support of her many friends and family. Despite the bleak prognosis when she was first diagnosed almost a decade ago, she defied the odds and inspired all of us with every passing day.
Mum was an incredibly kind, caring and intellectually curious person, finding joy in a diverse range of interests including botanical art, complementary medicine, property renovation and was a business partner for 30 years. Alongside her own battle with cancer, she found time to counsel many other people facing similar diagnoses, even within the final few months of her life.
The Eve Appeal is the UK’s leading national charity funding research into the prevention and earlier diagnosis of the five gynaecological cancers. Mum was diagnosed with two separate gynaecological cancers, ovarian and endometrial, with her endometrial cancer being diagnosed at stage 4, the most advanced stage. Mum fully supported The Eve Appeal and everything they do to support women affected by cancer, and we would like to invite friends and family to donate to help support their work, in her memory.
