Jane's 1mile open water swim challenge after spinal surgery

Dear All,
I am so sad to say that I have found out that I have to have spinal surgery in April with a 6 months recovery time. Despite obviously being shocked, I am so gutted that I won’t be able to swim the Scilly Isles for the Marine conservation Society. As you all know this charity is so close to my heart, and somehow with your support, I still want to continue to help raise the funds for them. This is going to be an extremely hard, long and painful recovery so even to get back swimming into a pool let alone a lake is going to be a massive challenge for me. So I thought long and hard about this, and a bigger challenge for me will be to return to open water swimming, so I have set a goal to aim to swim 1K in Queensford lake in Oxford. Recent studies have revealed marine plastic pollution in 100% of marine turtles, 59% of whales, 36% of seals and 40% of seabird species examined
Donations are needed to continue the much needed fight and to help stop the tide of plastic.
