Jim’s Small Paces Charity Walk in aid of BASIC

(Brain & Spinal Injuries Centre –Salford)

For the 3rd Year running I am proud to announce that the Small Paces will be walking 10 on Saturday 1st June. This year we will be raising funds in support of a small charity called BASIC, which are the Brain and Spinal Injuries Centre in Salford.

Many of you know us and have supported us before but for everyone else that may be reading about us for the 1st time we are a group of friends and colleagues of Jim Lodge. Jim suffered a life changing stroke 3 years ago and each year we get together to raise as much money as we can in order to support those organisations that have support Jim in his recovery and rehabilitation.

We have previously supported the Stroke Association but this year Jim has asked that we support BASIC. They are a small, local organisation that do amazing work for people who have suffered brain and spinal injuries and Jim has found their support invaluable.

We will be walking 10 miles in and round Lyme Park, starting in High Lane and taking in a few hills before we head back via Pott Shrigley and finally arrive back to High Lane Park to meet Jim for his lap of honour around lunchtime and just in time for a spot of lunch.

Fingers crossed for a warm sunny day - Jan

A few words
from some of our walkers

This will be the 3rd annual walk for Jim's small paces who
are a group of work colleagues who are walking to raise money on behalf of Jim who suffered a life changing stroke just over 3 years ago.

It has been a long hard path to recovery and getting back to work has played a massive part in my recovery. I have received nothing but support from all my work colleagues and cannot under estimate the importance of being able to make a contribution at work.

This year we are raising money for the Brain and Spinal Injury centre based in Salford who are a small charity who do rehabilitation for people who have suffered brain injuries.

They have helped me personally with both Physiotherapy where they are working to improve my walking, after the stroke and also through a stroke survivors group that I attend. They are a small independent charity who are reliant on donations and fund raising for a lot of their income. I hope you will be able to support this very worthy cause.

I am walking
to support the Brain and Spinal Injury Centre so that they can continue their amazing work helping people like my friend and colleague Jim.  Following a serious stroke Jim managed with the help of rehabilitation and his own hard work and determination to return to work and to regain his driving licence.  My Mum also suffered a stroke and rehabilitation helped her to recover so that she was able to return to her own home and live independently.  I hope that the money raised by this walk will contribute towards the pioneering treatment being offered by the Centre and give people a better future and vital independence.

Thanks, Lindsay

I am excited to do another walk to support my colleague Jim who suffered a stroke over 3 years ago.  Jim has made great progress since his stroke and this has been helped by the support he has had from both the stroke association and more recently BASICS (a small
charity supporting people with brain and spinal injuries). BASICS is Jim’s
chosen charity this year, so please donate what you can for a great cause.

Thanks Liam
