Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Over thirty years ago I experienced a really difficult period of depression. I had just had my second child and everything should have been wonderful but it wasn't. I felt low, anxious, lost my appetite, couldn't sleep and had an overwhelming sense of dread. I couldn't make sense of it all.
Thankfully I got support and help but to be honest there wasn't much out there at the time. I would have loved there to have been a Charity like Kintsugi Hope to help me realise that I was not alone. That it was 'ok not to be ok' and that I would find a way through.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold glue. There is beauty in our scars. I have lots of life scars as well as wrinkles but they make me who I have become and I will always be a work in progress.
Kintsugi Hope run Well-Being groups that encourage people to communicate how they feel. They are the most wonderful places of honesty and sharing. Communication is the biggest weapon against struggling with stuff.
I have had a journey of ups and downs with my mental health but I have learnt how to be open about it and through that to live a wonderful life. My joints may be creaking as I get older but my mental health has only improved.
Please consider giving to Kintsugi Hope and check them out online. They are making a huge difference right across the UK and Ireland. I want to celebrate them in my birthday month.
Thank you
Jane
