Story

Seven of the Waterfoot Women's Wheelers are cycling the 120 mile Sandstone Way mountain bike route over three days in June this year.  We have decided to try and raise some money for the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team as you must all be aware this amazing rescue team saved the life of one of our bikers, Andrew Morton.  It sounds dramatic but in truth If it hadn't been for the work of the dedicated team members Andrew could have been paralysed or worse.  While riding a local route Andrew fell over his handle bars and broke a bone in his neck.  Through the quick action of friends who called The Mountain Rescue Team Andrew was carried off the moors and safely delivered to Preston Royal Hospital where it was found he had broken his neck.  After three months in a halo brace he is still undergoing physio but it is with thanks to the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team that he is now back riding his favorite routes.
