Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you will know, for my 50th birthday celebrations, I was challenged to do 50 things in my 50th year...! Many of my challenges have been small and insignificant! One is pretty big - not only because I have to swim a mile in open water in a wet suit and therefore overcome my fear of deep dark water but because I wanted to do something to remember James Day! James was the husband of my friend Wendy and he lost his fight for life at the age of 47! In his family's words...
"James passed away after a long battle with cancer. We started going to the Royal Marsden Hospital for drug trials in September 2011 after we were told this was our only option. James was happy to do this at the very least to help find a cure for this heartbreaking disease. They looked after him very well, giving him the chance to trial 3 new drugs."
It is for all the above that I decided to jump in at the deep end (excuse the pun) and compete in the Great Swim London on Saturday 31st August 2013.
I hope that you will be able to help me raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in James' name and help me make my 50th year one to really celebrate.
Fingers crossed for Saturday 31st August...!
Thanking you in advance for your support
