Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Page.
My Brother Paul & I will be cycling 85 miles around Lough Neagh in the 9th Lap the Lough Sunday 24th August 2014. We hope to raise some money for NI Chest Heart & Stroke. Believe me I do not type those numbers lightly. It's not that long ago I would have needed a rest stop driving 85 miles never mind cycling it!!!
Call it a midlife crises or sheer insanity but after completing the London to Paris cycle my brother inspired me to start cycling and in March of this year I jumped head first into a journey starting with 6 mile trips and slowly building it up.
We have chosen NI Chest Heart and Stroke for two reasons:
Firstly, our lovely Granny Grace passed away in 2013 after spending her last few years struggling every day with COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This is a terrible condition which she suffered with for a long time, which robbed our Granny of her independence and eventually her life.
Secondly, having had some heart issues myself, I am fully behind a charity that can help with support and research on managing heart problems such as mine and Chest problems like my Granny.
I can assure you we will not be entering Tour De France nor the Guinness Book of records with this cycle (see my earlier reference to my dicky ticker!!) The finish line not the finish time is our goal......although I have def caught the cyling bug!
Any suuport you can give is greatfully received by NI Chest Heart and Stroke. Please have a look at their website www.nichs.org.uk We all know someone affected by these conditions and who would need the support and experience they can provide.
Thanks in advance
Paul & Janine
