Story
I have chosen to fundraise for Bowel Cancer UK as Bowel Cancer is sadly an illness that has affected my family over the years.
My father Charles was diagnosed with this disease in 2004 and although is now cancer free, lives with the day to day impacts of bowel surgery.
My Aunt Beth (my father's sister) was diagnosed with aggressive bowel cancer at Christmas last year and sadly she is about to start a second round of chemotherapy.
There is much more that can be done to educate people on preventative care for bowel cancer, about genetic risks and much the government can do to facilitate earlier screening programmes and quicker access to PET scans.
The event is not far away but please give all you can to stop this horrible disease.
Bowel Cancer UK the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. We’re here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
