The Objects of CIVA are “to advance any purpose which is recognised as being exclusively charitable under the laws of every part of the United Kingdom”. CIVA specialises in taking good ideas and turning them into successful and sustainable programmes. The main thrust of our work at the present time is in the following areas: • The promotion of social entrepreneurship and support of social entrepreneurs. • Encouraging the participation of young people in issues that affect them as young people and in wider society. • Enabling poor communities to address issues and problems in their lives. • Addressing the needs of families and their health and wellbeing, especially young families and early years children, • Addressing the issues of environmental sustainability and climate change. • The advancement of mathematics. • Experimenting with and investigating new forms of sustainable finance in support of these objectives.

Story

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for sponsoring me.

I had an amazing day.  Official chip time 5hrs 35mins.  Less 12 mins queueing time for "the facilities" = 5hrs 23mins of running time.  And inspired by Sarah's cause - and unlike in London in 1997, I didn't walk at all.  Not once.........  Each and every one of the 26.2 miles took me between a steady 11 and 13.5 minutes.

I am overwhelmed with everybody's generosity and I have to say that when the going got tough (and it did), the amount at stake was hugely motivational.

I ache all over and am walking in a very strange way.  Stairs are going to be a major challenge for the next few days.  But I will be smiling all week.  If you have never challenged yourself to a marathon, I would highly recommend it!

WHAT WAS IT ALL FOR?  I was running in Sarah Dodds' honour and memory.  Inspired by her passion and zest for a life that was recently and tragically, cut short.  Monies raised are to be used to help fund entrepreneurial ventures that aim to bring about positive global social change.  A cause that Sarah was completely dedicated to.  Sarah's trust has been formed by her family and friends to continue her good work.
