Offa’s Dyke trail · 30 May 2022

We support thousands of people living with terminal illnesses & their families, in our three hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home. We need to raise £12.7 million this year to provide our services free of charge – we can’t do it without you!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Offa’s Dyke trail (English/Welsh Boarder) is 177 miles long. In the 8th century, King Offa of Mercia (England) ordered the construction of a fortified Dyke to separate England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

On 30th April I will set off from Sedbury Cliffs, near Chepstow and travel North, finishing at Prestatyn on the north coast.

I shall be carrying my own food (rations) and shelter totalling 45lbs in weight  and I’ve a 7 days to get as many miles as possible in the bag before I have to come back home and go back to work (more walking!!) Being realistic about it I doubt I’ll complete it in the 7 days as it takes most walkers 12 to do it. My plan is to get as far as possible in 7 days and then return each weekend until I’ve finished it.
