Qlik Malawi Trip 2019
Campaign by WeSeeHope (RCN 1079385)
From 14th - 20th September 2019 six employees from Qlik will be visiting WeSeeHope's programmes in Malawi.

Story

I had the unique opportunity to travel to Malawi on a volunteer trip, where a group of Qlikies and I visited several WeSeeHope project sites. We got great insight into how WeSeeHope runs their programs and what sets them apart from all the other charities. This visit also helped us understand their data collection process and how Qlik can help improve reporting and measurement of impact of their fund raising.

I have set a target to raise USD 2000. This money will go directly to WeSeeHope's programs, and will have a direct impact on improving and protecting lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

Malawi is among the world's least-developed countries. The economy is heavily based in agriculture, with a largely rural population. The Malawian government depends heavily on outside aid to meet development needs, although this need (and the aid offered) has decreased since 2000. The Malawian government faces challenges in building and expanding the economy, improving education, healthcare, environmental protection, and becoming financially independent amidst widespread overpopulation and unemployment. Since 2005, Malawi has developed several programs that focus on these issues, and the country's outlook appears to be improving, with a rise in the economy, education and healthcare seen in 2007 and 2008.

Malawi has a low life expectancy and high infant mortality. There is a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS, which is a drain on the labour force and government expenditures.

WeSeeHope exists to support orphans and vulnerable children living in extreme poverty in Southern and Eastern Africa. They partner with local, in-country organisations to develop long term and sustainable programmes that restore, protect, educate, equip and sustain these children and young people.
