Prudential RideLondon 2015 to Jazz up our Emergency Veterinary Fund · 1 August 2015

The Racehorse Sanctuary is dedicated to ex-racehorses who through no fault of their own need rehabilitation or rescue. We specialise in retraining thoroughbreds before finding them new loving homes for life. Those horses who cannot be re-homed are cared for by dedicated staff at the Sanctuary.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  The lovely mare Jasmine Breeze is now retired to the Racehorse Sanctuary, where the girls who look after her call her Jazz and love her to bits. Recently though she had a very painful bout of colic compounded by a nasty infection, which required a 5-day stay at the Liphook Equine Hospital, where she received superb treatment.

Jazz is safely back at Stilemans now, but this unforeseen incident seriously depleted our Emergency Veterinary Fund.  This is why my daughter Alison joined me in tackling the challenge of getting ourselves and our bikes from Milton Keynes to central London to join Boris Johnston's Prudential RideLondon cycle on Saturday 1 August 2015, to secure donations towards Jazz's treatment.

However the recent dreadful paddock accident suffered by Try shows why we need to take every opportunity to build up the Emergency Veterinary Fund.  Try too has had to spent time at Liphook Equine Hospital, to have emergency key-hole surgery on his hock - nothing to do with the fact that he had just had his teeth cleaned!

In emergencies, Graham and his team need to be able to take the right decisions for the horse, without having to worry if there is enough money to pay the bills, so please donate generously.  Or better still, consider taking up your own challenges to raise money for treating our horses - they deserve the best.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.  Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.  Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.  So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
