Story
On October 15th 2014, I will be attempting a tough challenge to climb Mount Kinabalu, on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. At 4095mtrs above sea level it is approximately 3 times higher than Ben Nevis, the U.Ks highest mountain.
This challenge is going to push me to my limits – I will be trekking up the mountain in 35 degrees and 90% humidity – something which I have never encountered before.
I am doing this for a very good cause. I am fundraising for a Charity called deafPLUS where I have worked for the past 5 years.
Formerly Breakthrough Deaf-Hearing Integration, deafPLUS is a medium sized organisation working to encourage integration between deaf and hearing people in all areas of life. deafPLUS provides a wide range of services such as;
o Information, Advice and Advocacy
o Personal support and development
o Employment support
o IT training and internet access
o Deaf Awareness Training
o Lipreading and Hearing loss rehabilitation
o Equipment assessment and fitting
o BME and DeafBlind support
o Art, leisure and social activities
As with most charities, deafPLUS have been facing financial difficulties due to our grants being cut. I am passionate about highlighting the need for our work, raising our profile and to raise much needed funds to continue our work.
I am required to achieve the fundraising target by the middle of August. To do this, I will be organising several fundraising events (to be announced) and I would be delighted if you could join me. I would also be eternally grateful if you could donate on my Just Giving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks very much,
Jason
