WHEN DONATING, PLEASE START YOUR MESSAGE WITH "FOR SICKLE CELL RESEARCH" THIS IS IMPORTANT, THANK YOU.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I will be taking part in a 10k Run on 14th of July to raise money and awareness for Sickle Cell Anemia, a disease which sadly took the life of my best friend and brother in law Mike Streete at the age of 30.
Sickle cell anaemia is a genetic blood disorder in which red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body, develop abnormally. Rather than being round and flexible, the sickle red blood cells become shaped like a crescent. These abnormal red blood cells can then clog sections of blood vessels leading to episodes of severe pain.
Mike was diagonsed with this disorder at the age of 18 months. During his life he bravely learnt to deal with the pain caused by this disorder. During these unimaginable painful episodes he would insist that friends and family shouldn't fuss and would use his humour to stop everybody from worrying.
Mike was a truly unforgetable character and will live on through his beautiful daughter Kiera who sadly never got to meet her daddy. This is our opportunity to do something in his name for sufferers of Sickle Cell so that a cure may be found.
This is the furthest I have ever run, actually this is the only time I have ever run! If you would like to learn more about the event then look at: http://www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk/ So please dig deep and help me raise money in Mikes memory.
Wish me luck
Thank you
