Story
I am a NHS diabetes consultant doctor, a clinical champion advocate for Diabetes UK charity, and also a person with pre-diabetes / type 2 diabetes myself, with hidden disabilities.
Today is World Diabetes Day. It also marked the same anniversary day of me able to walk myself independently into grocery store / cafe / work this time last year, after going through not so straightforward spinal surgery last summer. I will be completing a approx 5 miles walk in Sheringham Park and coastal today, with my colleagues accompanying and support.
Diabetes is an epidemic for UK and many countries in the world. It is devastating, and as equally debilitating as cancers, stroke, and heart diseases. It is important to support those who are living with diabetes, and those who are caring for them.
