When some of our younger up and coming colleagues suggested this initially they probably assumed I and the other older and wiser 'has been' would probably avoid this given work, family and physical challenges ! However, once I investigated and realized one of the charities supported is Autistica and reflected on the challenges my young nephew encounters every day in living with autism, the idea of making time for this took hold.
With six other DB colleagues we will be taking on this challenge on May 5th. On Friday morning at 08:30 we'll begin our ascent of Ben Nevis. Then, after being driven to Wasdale Head, at 20:30 on Friday evening we'll start our climb of Scaffell Pike. One last transfer to Pen y pass at 01:00 on Saturday, and at 05:30 we'll commence our final ascent of Snowdon, to reach the finish line by 08:30!
Detail on both charities is provided below, I would be grateful if you could contribute what you can to support their work.
In addition you will be supporting the fighting spirit of 'has beens' the world over! Above is a picture taken from some recent warm weather training on the Bedford trail in OC, California, these young guys are in trouble !!
100% of the fundraising goes directly to the charities (we cover our own costs) and Deutsche Bank will match every £1 that our supporters donate, doubling the impact of their donations!
By supporting Autistica you will be giving children with autism the chance to live longer, healthier and happier lives. Help us to provide families with the answers they so desperately need to get earlier diagnosis and support, to manage paralysing mental health problems and achieve their potential in life.

Hope and Homes for Children exist to help the 8 million children who are trapped in orphanages around the world claim back their lives and grow up within the love of a family. They are leading experts in closing down orphanages and reforming Childcare systems worldwide.
They develop sustainable, systemic solutions alongside local organisations and
authorities, ensuring the interests of children always come first. And by working with Governments to put the right legislation in place, they make sure it is there for the long-term.
