Heeley city farm is a not-for profit charity, a free visitors centre, care farm, cafe and educational centre. They do hugely important things for the local community, supporting schools and offering volunteering opportunities to children and adults with disabilities and learning difficulties. The Farm relies heavily on volunteers averaging around 60 at any one time across their many sites and it provides a purpose for many volunteers who are not always able to find employment. 

The Farm is currently at serious risk of closure and its owners announced in late 2022 they were  trying to introduce a financial rescue plan in a desperate bid to keep it open. They are a local Charity who receive no core funding to help run the Farm, which is why donations are so important.
