Story

Hi

I really appreciate you taking time out to read what I am planning to do this year and the great cause I am raising money for.

I have decided to complete the Outlaw Triathlon which an Ironman Distance Triathlon.  Details are at http://www.onestepbeyond.org.uk/the-outlaw-triathlon.php

Great video of the Outlaw event on there.

For those of you who aren't aware of the Ironman Triathlon it consists of a

  • 2.4 mile open water swim
  • 112 mile road cycle and
  • a 26.2 mile run to finish

Yes, that's a marathon at the end, and I have 17 hours to complete the whole event! (though I would like to do it under 14!)

When I tell people, the first thing they usuallt say is, "are you mad!", followed a shake of the head!  I think I am a little crazy attempting it but sure...I don't want a life of "If only I had tried that..."

In training for this event I have decided to raise money for Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.  This is a local charity which supports families whose children have cancer and also supports children if one of their family members has cancer.  Each week in Northern Ireland 3 children are diagnosed with cancer.

NICFC have opened Daisy Lodge, a respite and care centre for families in Newcastle.  They need a play area built and I want to raise £30,000 to build this.  Please support me in this

NICFC's website is at http://www.nicfc.com/

A Youtube video explaining the work is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOd0h-sb7jo

I plan to use the updates here to tell a little more of my story and progress.

I appreciate your support and encouragement

Jason
