Story
Welcome to my Just Giving fundraising page! I am running the 2020 Edinburgh Marathon and Cycling the Loch Ness Sportive for Macmillan Cancer Support in order to raise as much money as possible.
They are a fantastic Charity and I would be so grateful if you could take the time to sponsor me to help the cause and to motivate me in my training!
I am by no means a natural runner so this is going to be a huge challenge! I will be posting updates on social media to keep everyone updated on my progress and to keep me striving forward. I have over 6 months to train and fundraise so I’m hopeful that I can smash my fundraising target of £750 (and complete the marathon!!!).
Why Macmillan?
Cancer effects everyone, whether it is you personally or close family and friends.
My Mother passed away almost 4 years ago. Over a five-year period she was diagnosed with cancer twice. Her first diagnosis was breast cancer which she overcame without batting an eyelid. She was always positive and confident she would get through it and undoubtedly the help provided by Macmillan contributed to this mind set. A couple of years later, whilst in remission from breast cancer, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a more aggressive form of cancer. Sadly, after fighting it for nearly 2 years she passed away. Again the support provided by Macmillan was second to none.
So this run is for her! I can't promise I'll be positive and smiling the whole 26.2miles or 106km cycle but I know I will be when I set foot over the finish line, knowing what a great accomplishment it is and knowing the money raised will help people like my Mum.
