Get Kids Going! helps disabled children take part in sport by providing specialist sports wheelchairs, sports grants and year round support. They can then compete in marathons, triathlons, tennis, athletics, skiing, rugby, basketball etc. With your help, many could become Paralympic champions and world record holders.

Story

I wanted to write to say once again  - THANKS for your huge support – I have raised a massive £1960 so far, so I’m pretty confident I will hit my £2K target.

The running itself was very hard! I started off well and was actually overtaking other runners trying to keep to my race pace of finishing in less than 4 hours. But alas, after 10 miles the injury on my calf came back to haunt me and totally locked down – so I had a numb leg for the rest of the race!

I ended up finishing in 4 hours 27 minutes. I crossed the finish line and had no idea what time I had done –  I was just relieved to have completed it!!

I did hit the infamous “wall” – at around 22 miles. My body had completely burnt all my energy reserves by that stage so I was just running on will power in the end. I have to say, the crowd were absolutely amazing and totally lifted me to the end! If it weren’t for them I’m not sure I would have continued.

I promised myself I would never do it again, but alas, have already signed up for the 2011 marathon! The pain goes away but the memories last forever.

Hope to see some of you good people on the course next year!!

Again – thanks for your huge support and generosity.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Justgiving page.

For the last 10 years my new year's resolution has been "to get fit". Sadly I still have not managed to achieve this as is evidenced by my ever growing belly and double chin!

This year is different! I have set myself a goal - and what better goal than running the London Marathon and to raise tons of money for a fantastic cause at the same time!!

The charity I am running for is Get Kids Going. They do a fantastic job of providing equipment for disabled kids in the UK to get them in to sport - to do all the things you and I take for granted!

Sir Sebastian Coe is President, and you never know, some of the money donated may even help our athletes in the 2012 Olympics!!

I have been training hard and have been through the pain barrier - mostly on the physio's table due to injury. I am still aiming to complete the run in less than 4 hours.

I really appreciate any donation you can make - no matter how small - it all adds up - please give as much as you can.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please, please, dig deep and donate now - every little helps - It means a lot to me and the charity.
