Story

I'll be running the Worthing Half Marathon this Sunday 4th May in memory of Alex Bryant for Leukaemia Care, and to support people affected by leukaemia in the UK.

Alex was known and loved by many. After years of fight, he sadly lost his battle and passed away from acute myeloid leukaemia 2 years ago on 20th March 2023. Alex was only 25.

Worthing is my hometown, and close to Littlehampton where I first met and went to school with Alex aged 14 at The Littlehampton Academy. When I first heard of the event a few months ago, I made the decision to run this year's Worthing Half Marathon in Alex's memory, as a first in a series of fundraising events I plan to do over this next year for charities supporting Leukaemia, notably the Anthony Nolan Trust.

An incredible amount of money has been raised for Athony Nolan so far for Alex. Whilst I was not able to run for them directly for this event, I was able to gain a late entry spot for Leukaemia Care who collaborate directly with Anthony Nolan. Leukaemia Care and Anthony Nolan are linked through collaboration and shared goals related to blood cancer research and patient support. Anthony Nolan is the world's first stem cell register, and they work with Leukaemia Care on initiatives like the Spot Leukaemia campaign and the IMPACT stem cell transplant clinical trials initiative.

Leukaemia Care also ensure that anyone affected by blood cancer receives the right information, advice and support. Around 34,000 people are affected by blood cancer each year in the UK and they are there to support them through their diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

I'd be really grateful for any amount you can afford to donate.

Thank you so much for your donations ❀️
