Joint Action Spring Appeal 2013 · 8 April 2013

Did you know there are over 20 million people in the UK living with a musculoskeletal condition? That’s about a third of the population. We help patients by raising funds for research to improve Orthopaedic treatment, restoring mobility and giving people back their freedom and independence.

Story

Spring is upon us and, as we all know, it’s a time of rejuvenation, renewal and regrowth.  Many of you will have had new joints or orthopaedic implants (or know of someone who has) and, hopefully, will have had that “Spring” feeling.  Our Christmas Appeal raised over £10.5k and this is because you believe in our work and want others to benefit the way you have – thank you!

This £10.5k could pay for:

  - Over a year’s worth of laboratory consumables needed for a project to investigate bone cancer

 - Over 85 days of research into a musculoskeletal disease e.g. Arthritis

 - Six month’s salary of a Junior Researcher, researching into Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O)

This “shopping list” is so important to enable us to progress and improve research methods, surgical techniques and the quality of life for you and for future generations; keeping people mobile for longer.  Please consider giving today – you know you can make a real difference.

Whether you have had a joint replacement from elective surgery or had metal pins implanted after an accident (or any other kind of orthopaedic intervention) this would only have been made possible by research and, in turn, from generosity of people like you.  Each year, we fund the highest quality and most beneficial projects which we hope will have significant positive outcomes.

We hope that our latest newsletter highlights the importance of donations for T&O research.  We have started a new feature called “In The Spotlight” where we show you how your money is being spent on a vital research project.

Once again, thank you for your support.  You may have been affected (directly or indirectly) in the past but, help us today and you could be helping us research for the future.
