Jayne's Story:
"We've found a 5-6 centimetre brain tumour."
You never think you'll ever hear those words being said to you. It took less than a minute, but those words changed my whole world. Suddenly I was sat wondering how I was going to tell my boys, my mum, sister, dad, friends. Was I going to see next Christmas?, my boys growing up? graduating?getting married? You go into panic mode, everything you take for granted feels like it might be slipping away. Fear takes over!! That first night was the worst of my life, one I would rather forget. But as the next day dawned, something else took over, a strength I never knew I had. Time to get on with it, whatever that entailed! And so my great B.T. adventure began! 2 weeks of waiting, 10 hours of surgery, not 4 as predicted, intensive care, monster scar, months of recovery, screws in the back of my head and a few tears along the way (especially when told they had to leave a bit of the tumour and also when they said I couldn't drive again.) I was a lucky one though, my tumour was benign and operable!! A year later, I'm still here, healthy and happy, surrounded by my amazing family and friends. Love has followed me everywhere in the past 12 months and my appreciation of life has grown (still a grumpy, mardy cow at times though!!😁😁)
Being positive has helped me stay strong and now I want to do something positive to help others, who haven't been as lucky with their tumours as I have. So me and four of my wonderful friends are going to run the GNR 2018 in aid of the brain tumour charity.
The charity research B.T.'s (causes, cures, living with the effects of a B.T) and support those affected by them.
Did you know, there are over 140 different types of brain tumour? 29 people are diagnosed with a B.T. every day in the U.K., 75% of people diagnosed lose their driving licence, 90% experience a negative effect on their mental health and 50% experience financial difficulties.
Over the next 5 years, 46,000 people will be diagnosed with a B.T., of those 25,000 will lose their battle!!
We want to help. Our target is £1875. Every pound you give is greatly appreciated by all 5 of us and we'd just like to thank you so much for supporting our cause!! It's going to be tough and painful, but we're determined to complete it!!
Huge thanks and big snogs
