Jayne's Half Marathon of hope for Marylebone women's project

Celebrating international Womens Day- Half Marathon · 6 March 2021
Since completing the half marathin last Saturday and reached my first fundraising target I have doubled my fundraising goal.
Why am I running a half marathon on Saturday 6th March during a global pandemic instead of binge watching Netflix you may be asking ?
I started jogging 8 years ago to improve my mental health & wellbeing during the menopause. During this last year of COVID 19 running has been one of the ways I've coped with all the restrictions and cared for my wellbeing. So as we went into Lockdown 2 I started to train for running a half-marathon and by Lockdown 3 I wanted an incentive to keep me motivated and the idea of doing a fundraiser came to mind.
Why Saturday 6th March?
Because it's closest to International womens' day on the 8th.
Why the Marleybone project?
For the women experiencing homelessness in London, during the pandemic, Church Army's Marleybone project offers short term accommodation education, training, employment and meaningful activities, for up to 112 women at any one time. This has been a life line for many women who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, unemployment or mental health issues.
At times during the pandemic, to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers and residents, women have had to self isolate in their room with additional activities and support provided.
For International women's day I wanted to send them a gift to encourage the women that they are worthwhile, valued human beings with hope for the future and that people they may never meet are rooting for them.
My fundraiser will comply with current COVID restrictions. I'll start from home, run repeated circutes around my local area within 2.5mile radius of home; this will enable me to use home as a refuelling stop so I don't need to carry all my drinks & snacks with me.
I will record the run on my my running app as evidence the run has been completed.
The run will commence Saturday 6th March 2021 at 9am and I whilst I'm not looking to do any PBs I home to do it in around 2.5hrs
