We Help the over 60s to afford a rescue pet to tackle loneliness and isolation

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been talking about doing a long swim for charity for about 10 years now. In October 2022, I will turn 40, so I figured that now is as good a time as any. All being well, I will swim on 6th October 2022.

3 miles is 192 lengths of a 25 metre pool. Next stop, The Olympics 🤣 or the Guinness Book of World Records for the most talking to yourself anyone can do while swimming 192 lengths.

But anyway, I’d be really grateful if you could donate to this cause, please only £1 if that’s all you can. I am acutely aware that the price of living is on everyone’s lips, and minds, just now.

I was unable to set up a fundraising page that would split the money equally between 2 charities. 50% of the funds raised will go to Glasgow Humane Society - Give a Dog a Bone have agreed to pass this on for me.

Glasgow Humane Society has been saving lives on and around Glasgow’s waterways since 1790. They are the oldest practical lifesaving organisation in the world and many Glaswegians owe their lives to their often selfless work. This is a wonderful charity with an invaluable presence on the River Clyde and the continuation of their services, not just on the waterways, but in educating the public, is so very necessary.

Please also have a look at Give a Dog a Bone’s page on here. They are an outstanding, award-winning, local charity with a big heart and I feel confident that your money will go towards the things that matter, instead of paying someone’s overpriced salary! Tackling loneliness in the elderly by matching them up with a rescue dog needing a home - anyone that knows me, knows how much I love dogs ❤️

About the charity

We support the over 60s to afford a rescue pet companion. If money is a genuine barrier, we can pay the rehoming fee for a RESCUE animal and continue to support, each month, with the cost of pet food. 'Helping individuals through loneliness and animals through homelessness'.
