The Paul Hunter foundation was established in 2006 in memory of Paul Hunter with the specific aim of giving disadvantaged, able bodied and disabled youngsters an opportunity to play snooker

Story

I'm running the Tees 10 kilometre race as the first of numerous fundraising events for both the Paul Hunter Foundation and Bowel Cancer UK. My chosen charities are in memory of two icons within my respective sports - darts and snooker.

Paul Hunter's life was cruelly cut short at 27 as he lost his battle with neuroendocrine tumours in 2006. Three-time Masters Champion and three-time ranking winner, Paul was one of the most colourful characters ever to grace the green baize and would have undoubtedly gone on to become one of the sport's most decorated stars. He has inspired a new generation of young players and his legacy lives on through his foundation which was set up in 2006, with the aim of giving disadvantaged, able-bodied and disabled youngsters the opportunity to play the sport he loved - Snooker.

On behalf of http://www.live-darts.com/ I will also be running in support of Bowel Cancer UK, in memory of legendary darts commentator Sid Waddell, who lost his battle with the illness in August.

All donations will be split between these two fantastic causes, thanks a lot for your support.
