24 Hour Charity Cricket · 23 February 2018

McGrath Breast Care Nurses help families in Australia experiencing breast cancer by providing invaluable physical, psychological and emotional support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment. This support is provided free of charge and can be accessed through self-referral.

Story

From midday Friday the 23rd of February until midday Saturday the 24th of February Josephine Butler College Cricket Club (JBCCC) are going to be running an indoor cricket practice in aid of the McGrath Foundation.

Founded by Jane McGrath and her husband, former Australian cricket legend Glenn McGrath, the McGrath Foundation is a breast cancer education and support charity. Formed after Jane was initially beat breast cancer in 2005, the McGrath Foundation has since raised over $15 million. Unfortunately in 2006 Jane was re-diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away in 2008 survived by her husband and two children.

Since Jane's passing the cricketing community has taken a particular shine to the McGrath Foundation. Most recently the 5th test of the most recent Ashes was labelled the 'Pink Test', with the stadium and players donning pink for the charity.

JBCCC are hoping to follow in their footsteps and use this session to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Everyone is welcome to partake regardless of experience or ability as we try to raise money for an exceptional cause that we hope everyone can get behind.
