To promote the moral and physical development and improvement of young people between the ages of 10 and 25 years through the provision of financial assistance so as to develop their full capacities and enable them to become responsible members of society and improve their standard of living

Story

The John Bury Trust was formed by Jack Bury OBE and his daughter Pam Rodgers when they were Mayor and Mayoress of Blackburn with Darwen in 2000/2001.  The trust was set up to enable Jack to continue the work with young people in the Borough that he held close to his heart.

Sadly Jack passed away on the 31st of December 2004 but not before he had ensured that the Trust would continue his work in his name.

Along with a team of fantastic volunteer Trustees, Pam has continued as Chairman of the John Bury Trust. Each year increasing the amount of funding that is given to young people within the Borough of Blackburn with Darwen.

As someone who was brought up in Blackburn, it is important to me that the John Bury Trust can continue to provide these funds for many years to come.

So although I have run these 10k events before and indeed a marathon, i have not actually run the 10k event for 3 years and my weight has jumped back on me.

So i have three motivations for doing this.

1 - To get myself back in shape

2 - To set a personal best time which means beating 56 and a half minutes, but id like to be around the 50 mark

and the most important one,

3 - To raise funds for the John Bury Trust.

The dark rainy nights heading out to the gym to get myself into shape and ready for the big day needs massive motivation! Sponsoring me any amount you can and knowing that something i am doing is making a difference to the young people of Blackburn and Darwen. Thats just incredible!

Thankyou all!
