Sidley 3 Day Cycle Challenge

Sidley 3 Day Cycle Challenge · 2 May 2019
This is the first time I have supported Newborns Vietnam by riding 450km through the hills of Vietnam. Actually, this is the first time I have ridden 450km anywhere - particularly somewhere hilly. I will be joining a team of other riders from around the world to ride through Northern Vietnam from Sapa to Hanoi, riding on average 150km per day for 3 days from 3-5 May 2019.
I am taking on this challenge to raise money for Newborns Vietnam. Over the past 4 years, Newborns Vietnam has reduced neo-mortality in Da Nang, Vietnam by 50%. This was achieved through a combination of basic care, hygiene and updating fundamental equipment, but more importantly by educating doctors and nurses through a comprehensive training program provided by specialists from the UK and US.
Two years ago, the event raised close to US$100,000 - around a year's funding requirements for the charity back then. However, now the Vietnam government has noticed the results that Newborns Vietnam has achieved, they have asked Newborns Vietnam to roll out the program in Hanoi. This increases their funding needs drastically.
I am joining the journey through the Vietnamese hills to help Newborns Vietnam continue their journey.
