Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
The BHF vision is of a world in which people do not die prematurely of heart disease.
In November 2008 after breathing difficulties from excess fluid on the lungs - also general swelling (edema) as a result of heart failure I have a bi-ventricular pacemaker. This in itself came as a bit of a shock but a further surprise came as my after care nurse is BHF supported and without that support I and many others could miss out on vital help, support and general TLC at a very worrying and difficult time.
The British Heart Foundation funds BHF Nurses who visit heart patients with all types of heart conditions in their homes. We provide defibrillators and echocardiograph machines for hospitals, emergency services and first-aiders.
Some vital facts and figures
- There are over 400 BHF Heart Nurses caring for patients across the UK.
- Over 1,620 Heartstart UK schemes teach people what to do in an emergency. More than 1.6 million people have been trained by Heartstart UK in schools and the community.
- The BHF invests over £137 a minute on research to keep the nation's hearts healthy.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Heart Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
This is an ongoing plea for support as the BHF and I are stuck with each other for my remaining days so there is no target or specific event to sponsor. If you can help us we'd both be eternally grateful.
Cheers
John
