Story
The Royal Papworth Hospital is the UK's leading provider of specialist cardiothoracic care and is the country's main heart and lung transplant centre. The hospital charity enables the amazing NHS staff to continue to put the patients and their families at the heart of everything they do.
I have chosen this very worthy charity in memory of Richard Walklate who passed away suddenly in May 2018. Rich had heart surgery at Papworth Hospital and this is one of the charities he supported after his operations.
Rich and the Walklate family have inspired me with their enthusiasm for running and Park Run in particular. I've had my Park Run barcode printed off for over a year so I am finally starting my personal challenge at Netley Abbey Park Run this Saturday! It will be the first 5km in my 50 week challenge to run 500km in total. I hope to include a Park Run in Australia in July as well as a longer run later in the year when I am fitter!!
Please follow me on Facebook and help me get to my £500 fundraising target. And read more about Rich's story at www.run4rich.co.uk
