Mum was a parent to three children and a grandparent to three grandchildren. She also taught in primary schools for many years and then went on to work in secondaries and then teaching English to foreign students in her home. She loved children and young people and passionately believed that all should be free from poverty and given opportunities to fulfil themselves according to their talents and inclination.

Mum was a very charitable person and supported Unicef for many years. She donated monthly to the charity and undertook various fund raising activities in support of it over the years.

Mum asked for donations to Unicef in lieu of flowers at her funeral.
