Story
(Dr) Dave Shirley died 10 years ago. Not long before, his consultant asked why he had chosen to be a scientist not a medic. His answer - what's the point of being a medic if there is no cure? - inspired me to do what I can to raise money to find that cure.
When Marta, my mother, died 45 years ago, only one of every ten children diagnosed with leukaemia survived. Now it's eight out of ten. Moreover, six out of ten people of all ages survive blood cancer for at least ten years. Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, however, is proving a tough nut to crack in older people.
This year, we are offering the Round and About Walks 2023 over two weeks in May, and are jointly doing this with the Bishops Castle Community College.

This is working fine, but it didn't occur to me that people who do not want to walk but like to donate to the charity would not use the shiny new website that the link takes you to, not least because it cannot create GiftAid. I need to review this for next year but meanwhile I have updated this page slightly and am circulating it to those of you who helped last year.
If you would like to donate this year, that would be much appreciated, but please don't feel under any obligation.
In 2022 we collected £9,364 from this page. I have set the new target at £11,000, a bit optimistically.
