Little People UK provides help, friendship and support for everyone in the UK with all types of dwarfism. We provide emotional, educational and social support and promote equality and diversity. Our holistic approach supports individuals and families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In May 2012 my dad rode from London to Paris
for Leukaemia Lymphoma Research as a friend of his/ours had Lymphoma
Cancer and he sadly died at the age of 46 in August 2012.

He
sadly left a wife, a 2 year old son and 3 year old daughter and in 2012 the 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia (SED) which
is a rare, genetic condition that affects bone growth in the spine, arms and
legs.  It can also cause problems with eyesight and hearing.

Being a degenerative condition, this affects the individuals and their family
throughout their lives in many ways and there was very little financial and
emotional support for this and other similar conditions in the UK.

That was until January 2012 when Warwick and Sam Davis (Warwick
of Star Wars and Celebrity Squares fame) founded Little People UK with
the same goal; to offer friendship and support to people with dwarfism, their
families and friends, and helping build a positive future for those
individuals. Since it’s inception, Little People UK has become a registered
charity and an essential resource for the social, medical and financial needs
of the little people community in the UK. To date, it has attracted over 170
members, along with support from highly respected doctors, physiotherapists and
Special Educational Needs Co- ordinators with a particular interest in helping
individuals with dwarfism.

It is an entirely volunteer led organisation, it’s committee made
up of both people with dwarfism and average height individuals, making for a
very fair and compassionate group who can meet the needs of everyone.

When my dad said I am riding from London to Amsterdam with some
friends in May 2015, I said that I want to join him and do something good for
people close to me which is why I have chosen Little People UK.

The ride will start in Greenwich London and after 4 days and 300
miles in the saddle we will reach Amsterdam. (30/4 to 3/5)

Between now and the date I will have to follow a training plan
through the winter to ensure I am ready for it, this will mean training every
weekend regardless of the weather and I will keep everyone up to date with my
training on twitter @JedWollen or on my dads twitter @ChrisWollenL2A

This is a big challenge for me as I am currently 13 and will
have just turned 14 at the time of the ride and I do hope that you will support
me on this adventure and hope we can all raise some money for such a good
cause.

Thanks in advance.
