Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

A challenge was set-up to coincide with the date of this year’s London Marathon. (Yesterday, 26th April), in a bid to fill a £4 billion charity black hole.

The London marathon brings back so many memories (some very painful) to me every year, as I ran the race in 1982 as a 20-year-old! (It was the 2nd year this event took place and I was one of the youngest runners.)

The race is the world’s biggest one-day annual fundraising event, raising £66.4 million for charities in 2019 alone.

So, using the 26.2-mile marathon distance as a guide, anyone and everyone is being asked to participate in an activity.

I am not going to attempt to run a marathon anytime soon, so my Wife, Daughter and I have decided to walk 2.6 miles (at least) for 26 consecutive days to raise £260 for East Anglia Children’s Hospices.(Of which HRH The Duchess of Cambridge is the Royal Patron).

We do not expect raise over £26 million like Captain Tom or have a No.1 single.  But every little helps to fill the £4 billion charity black hole. However, we do not want donations to stop should we exceed £260, we will carry on fund-raising until 30th June).
