RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

On the 22nd and 23rd June 2013 a group will undertake a two day challenge on the Isle of Purbeck.

Our group is Jeff Hassell, Athol Petts, Dan Brown, Ben Crocker, Mel Lovatt, Lynda Lattanzio, and Chrissie Stacey.

This is our group page, please make all donations on this page.

On the first day we will walk from Durdle Door to Studland, a distance of 40km along the deceptively hilly coast path.

The next day we will sea kayak back the other way from Studland all the way into Weymouth. This is paddle of over 50km that passes through three tide races and past such icon scenery as Old Harry and Durdle Door.

We are undertaking this challenge to raise money for the RNLI.

Most of the participants are members of Sutton Bingham and District Canoe Club (SBDCC) or the Isle of Portland Canoe Club (IOPCC) - both clubs are very active in their respective local communities and regularly paddle off the Dorset coast. We see this as a fantastic opportunity to give something back to the RNLI, a fantastic charity that does so much to support safety off Britain's amazing coastline.

Athol, Dan, Ben and myself will be walking and paddling. Mel, Lynda and Chrissie are taking the walking only option.
